Former child star Carla Blair was very popular with fans, making her
films some of the most warmly received of all those Whiskerino Productions made. She
appeared in the Horror Canon in various guises including the playing of three roles in The
Contagious Death (She was nominated for a beard for her performance).
She was very committed to her art, always claiming to be one of 'the
professionals'.
Blair worked exclusively for the studio, retiring when it was finally
sold off and broken up. Some critics have said that this was due to her untiring
devotion to Whiskerino Productions, but PDA Kirwan writes in his unpublished autobiography
that she was often very difficult to work with. Kirwan said she was a prima dona
of the first order. He asserts that she often demanded a re-take if
she thought she appeared too far from the camera.
A keen holiday maker and lover of the high life she was injured in an
accident aboard her yacht during a shark diving party. Despite deep bite wounds she
was able to return to work the following summer, although she would never play the
recorder again.
Now a complete recluse she lives in Somerset with her husband
Eldridge. She is the author of "Our Friends - Cats" and "No Beards on
Us - behind the scenes at Whiskerino Productions" both sadly out of print.
