Former athlete Pauline McBride was already a star before she joined the studio as
a leading lady. Keen on physical performance and stunts she was Whiskerino's action
woman.
McBride ran at district level for the Notting
Hill Sparrows before retiring to take up her first love: acting.
Being both an accomplished stage performer and playwright she was a great
find for Whiskerino Productions.
She was also famed for her
piercing singing voice (Two of the songs she sang for her films can be
found on the Whiskerino album "Beards and Ballads" released on Crak Lee Records).
Her first lead role was in Babes in the Arms where she
played Gean 'Gracie' Favour, the Transelvation Arms barmaid who
finds the twins in the cellar. She turned in a fine performance and was said to
particularly relish the cricketing scenes.
Her only recurring role was as that of the Narrator who briefly introduced the
films in the Horror Canon. She starred in other features (notably Hired Spirits and the ill-fated Gladiat-HER
Gladys) before making her final film with the studio Snowing in My
Heart.
