Initially a reluctant performer, Charles F. Reed appears in almost all of Whiskerino's films.

VBJ He started as an extra at the studio, often to be seen in the background in scenes set in the Transelvation Arms inn.  The studio reputedly served real ale in these scenes so extra's work was a happy occupation.

Reed is best remembered for his portrayal of the Burgomaster of the local village.   He played this role three times, along side other regulars: Bar Keep, Brown Hat and Flim Flam.  Reed employed his political training when playing the village leader, he had in his youth been secretary to Emile Edday, his local member of parliament.  For a time Reed was intent on a political career and stood in two by-elections.   Fortunately for his fans he lost his deposit and fell to acting.

Julio His first appearance is in Vinegar Poultice.  He can clearly be seen in the bar drinking when Blisters McGuire starts a fight.  Reed got his first speaking role in Babes in the Arms, again in the bar, when he asks Bar Keep for the time.

Reed went on to appear in twelve more films with the studio, but his best performance can be seen in Larynx For Sale in which he played the failed singer Julio (pictured right).  Reed had months of singing tuition in preparation and performed all of the songs himself.  When asked about a singing career he replied that he preferred to sing along whilst watching films rather than singing in them.
