Based on the true story of Squadron leader Tommy Figgis, this was Whiskerino's first musical.  Figgis flies from an RAF base in the country and in order to take his mind off the rigours of war he sings to himself.  At first his crew laugh at him, but pretty soon they begin to join in his jolly songs.  Bomber Brown takes baritone and the pilot Harold Warren has a knack for hitting the high notes.

Figgis turns out to be somewhat shy and cannot perform in public.  His crew try to persuade him to do so as it would be the perfect way to win the heart of radio operator Sandra Holmes.  Figgis laments to himself about his sweetheart late at night in the barracks.  This gives Brown and Warren a plan.

Unknown to Figgis the crew smuggle onto the base a piano from the local pub.   Whilst Warren distracts Holmes with a few card tricks, Brown rigs up the radio to broadcast from Figgis's bunk to Holmes.  Warren accompanies on the piano and Holmes is overcome by Figgis's dulcet tones.  She falls madly in love with the mystery voice.  Unfortunately Brown has broadcast the singing to the entire camp.

The sirens sound as the Germans begin another attack.  The crews scramble and it is only when they are up in the air that Holmes hears the singing again.  She identifies the aircraft and realises to her joy that it is Figgis singing.  They are married directly when he lands.

Warren: "You only sing when you're flying!"
