In 1949 Whiskerino Productions took a
new direction. Executive Producer E.V. Harris plundered horror
classics to give them a Whiskerino twist . . . The screen flickered
and faded up on a sparse dimly lit set. Then the Narrator first
uttered those fateful words:

Ahh, good evening. I'm so glad you could join me . . .
There are thirteen films that make up the body
of the horror work. E.V. Harris needed a director he could trust on the project,
which he initially conceived as comprising just two pictures. He chose Syd E. Kick,
even though the pair had publicly fallen out on several occasions. The partnership
between Harris and Kick finally gelled after several false starts and disagreements.
It brought about some of the most fondly remembered of all Whiskerino's films.
